Long school holidays - the summer hols seem shorter now?
Making tree houses in the fields - not an adult in sight
The local outdoor pool, one man in charge of about 100 kids
Scrumping for apples
Black jacks
Lucky dips
No 6 fags
Crap 70s music
Freedom

Can't you still get 10s of cigs? I thought they still had them in England.
I used to love halfpenny sweets. Handy when my parents would only give me 20p a week pocket money!

I remember the trick my dad would use when we asked for our pocket money

"50p, what do you want with 40p, I don't think I've got 30p, check the mantle there should be 20p on there"

you used to walk away scratching your head holding 20p in your hand....

but it was enough for the Beano and penny sweets...

Seeing school fights where no weapons were involved only fists.

Teachers that actually dressed to look like teachers.

Saturday job, had one from the age of 11. Working in a sweet shop, then Boots the Chemist and working there in the summer holidays.

Being able to get in pubs and night clubs without showing an ID, just by dressing up and wearing make-up.

Going to the Off-Licence and buying Cider and potato chips.

Going out no earlier than 9pm to go to a club and then on to a party, coming home at about 6am and nicking a bottle of milk off a door step on the way home

Bloody Salvation Army band waking you up playing in the street! We had some kids across the road who used to come out and encourage them, I hated them. My brother did too, he put dog pooh in an envelope through their letterbox.

Sea cadet band marching round the streets on a sunday morning!

Swap Shop with Noel Edmonds, Cheggers and Maggie Philbin(had serious crush on her!)

Actually caring what song was at Number 1 in the charts, especially at Xmas

Making a Guy Fawkes out of old newspaper and clothes.

Rag and bone man.
Christmas carollers at your door.
Mike Yarwood, Bruce Forsythe.
Jaws & Star Wars at the movies.
Intermissions and ice cream ladies.
Conker fights and raw knuckles from near misses.
Skateboards.
Wizard of Oz/Planet of the Apes on TV at Christmas.
Kentucky Fried Chicken once a year.
Weymouth beach in the Summer.

And you try to tell the kids that today.
