More of them now, adults and the empty skins. Several blundered into my french doors last night and now lie dead on the deck.
Looking at the map here, my house is at the epicentre of one of the Richmond clusters.

A friend who lives nearby has told me that while working in their garden yesterday she saw lots of cicadas. Some were just emerging...some climbing trees and some adults.

Plenty round my way now, but at least the numbers are manageable - I can easily spot them out in the yard or on my deck, and the sound is incredible, but I'm not wading through them in apocalyptic numbers. Here's a couple of them.

On Friday, Saturday & Sunday I rode (Mtb) trails all around Richmond VA - nothing. Went to Fredericksburg today.... stepped out of the truck to a noise like a jet plane taxi'ing.... LOUD ! Didn't actually see much of them (apart from those pictured), just heard them.
Back in Richmond now - nothing !

I posted similar comments on Facebook and have heard back from lots of people in Richmond saying that I must be lucky as they've all got the noise !!
