What part of CO are you living in.
We are moving to Fort Collins very soon and can't wait. Luckily almost all my wife's family live there, so we have a support network plus I get along with her cousins really well. Don't think I could have made the move without having friends or family, so it must be hard for you.
As for making friends, I've been going there for a good few years and have made some friends through other connections, in fact I thought it was easier than it would be. Have you tried meetup.com? It seems to have groups of almost every interest.
