Default Forced Insurance

Hi all,

A bit of a dilemma. I attend university on a 100% online basis, for now. Despite my wife working for said university and being on her health insurance and having my own health insurance through my own employer the university insists that I pay $1600 per semester to be covered on their policy. According to their rules, an online student need not be insured by them. They denied a waiver on the basis I am not an online student because my overall major is not considered online, even though I am only taking gen ed classes for fun at the moment.

This relates to the state of Ohio. Has anyone come across this before or knows what rights I have? I have absolutely zero issue sending copies of insurance but they refuse to accept as it is 'too late'.

I would check it out with your state Department of Insurance and see what they say.

Sounds like you missed a deadline for proving that you have your own insurance. Can you submit so that you don't get stung for subsequent semesters?
