I always fly my Union Flag on 4th July. Pisses my step-son off no end.

Can't think of any house flying any flag around here, and that's just fine with me.

I flew my union jack while my parents were visiting. Otherwise we have our stars and stripes up. Well except during football season when the chiefs flag goes up or march madness when we put up the jayhawk one. Oh and Marci gras flag for umm Marci gras.

Actually, I take it back. I can think of one house flying the US flag, but I give him a pass as he's a veteran. Also one guy flying the Green Bay Packers flag. Don't know what his excuse is.

We do once in a while, well, when I say we, I actually mean my US hubster does.

We have duel flag stanchions by the garage and we will fly both or one, depending on the circumstance, and basically if we're having a party it helps the guests remember which house is ours

Resident pedant here. You've been flying the Union Flag. It's only a Union Jack when it's flown on a ship.

With all due respect, this is a matter for debate.

I've had my Union Flag outside since the latest royal was born. I have great neighbours and have no wish to annoy them so I'll be bringing it in tonight.

However, bit miffed that my little Honda got sold with my welsh dragon sticker on it.... That was handy because I don't think anybody realised what it was unless they were actually British.

I find the USA too jingoistic and seeing their national flag everywhere isn't something I've thought of as "brilliant".

I've never flown the Union Flag and probably never will.

We occasionally fly the Union Flag and sometimes fly the US flag. It depends on our mood and if we can be arsed putting one up. It is great for giving directions to our house though. We're the one with the British flag. Always helps.

I don't own a Union Flag, but I do fly an English Flag on St Georges Day and the Queens birthday (if I remember) if for no other reason than it gives some other topic of conversation at the school bike rack ... some relief from the normal inane cap that gets regurgitated day after day.....;-) I have two flag mounts, so I never fly it on its own...always with a Stars and Stripes at the same time, and the Stars and Stripes takes the prime position. ..the way our house is sited, that means that the cross of St George is the more visible, but I can't help that;-).

For a few years I used to fly the S&S on some US holidays, normally 7/4 and Memorial and Veterans Days, but since the boys moved up to Scouts and took on a flag round placing the kerb side flags, we do that now instead.

^"The holiday is not the Fourth of July. It's Independence Day. Never mind what the calendar says or what we - the unenlightened - have always called it."

I don't think I've ever heard anyone refer to it as Independence Day. Where I live, everyone, including me, calls it the 4th of July.
