Anyone remember toast toppers? What a weird idea. I don't much like those jars of paste either, much rather have some nice pate.

I used to like pate until I read that they force feed the ducks/chicken from birth until their livers almost burst and they are close to death...then they are killed.

Yeah, I'm not too keen on liver pate, but you get some really good veggie ones, Tesco used to do a great mushroom pate.

Isn't that just pate that contains Foie Gras? I thought the liver used can come from regular ducks

I don't miss the fish paste, just the veggie spreads/pates.

Sardine and tomato was my favourite. I always wondered why it came in such small jars until I left a half-finished one for a few weeks. Grows mould like crazy.

Marks and Sparks still do a nice range of spreads like this, potted salmon, potted beef etc.

Potted beef on cream crackers was my fave as a kid.

Are you all talking about stuff like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Armour-Potted-...6128604&sr=8-2

I've never tried this myself, so couldn't tell you what it tastes like.
