An old question to some, but, given that you may be coming home to blighty, What favourite foods have you miss that were hard to get hold of in your part of the world?
I imagine that you will be looking forward to an early weekly shop when you return?

Where to start?
Chicken saag, mushroom rice, peshwari naan, onion bhaji, tandoori chicken and all their other yummy curry friends.
Chicken fried rice, sweet and sour pork, mushroom curry, prawn crackers and all their other yummy chinese takeaway friends.
Steak and kidney pudding, mash, peas and gray.
Chicken and mushroom pie and chips, fish and chips, scampi and chips and all their other chip shop friends. I even miss pickled eggs and they're disgusting.
Custard slices, custard tarts, belgian buns, eccles cakes, scones and clotted cream, chocolate fudge cake.
cadbury's cream eggs, frys turkish delight, jelly tots, curly wurlys, mr whippy ice creams, wagon wheels, jaffa cakes.
I could go on but need to go and sit in my empty pantry and cry.

I was back in England under sad circumstances in June and made a pig of myself with.
Jersey Royal new potatoes
Spring green cabbage
Lincolnshire sausages
M&S Chicken pie
M&S prawn mayo sandwiches
Real maltesers
Pimms 10 GBP for a litre! (stupid aussie keyboard does not have pound sign)
Pork pies
Scotch eggs
Sainsbury's taste the difference coleslaw
Jacobs cream crackers
Lancashire cheese
Walkers crisps all flavours
Real bacon
My first trip to Sainsbury's made me dizzy, there was so much choice and the taste of the strawberries or should that be the strawberries had taste and a soft texture.

Proper sausages (of course you can get sausages here but they're very poor quality and don't taste anywhere near as good as British ones)
Lots of different chocolates such as lion bars, after eight mints, yorkie bars and caramacs to name just 4 off the top of my head, and crisps such as ringos, monster munch, skips, and those scampi and lemon ones! You can get some of these things here in specialised English sweet shops, but they're extremely expensive due to being imported in small quantities so I rarely get to have them.
A certain cereal called "Granita" which is about the only breakfast cereal I actually like! I used to have this every morning as a kid in UK and although it was called Harvest Crunch back then it is still the same thing. Wierdly, they do actually have a breakfast cereal called Granita here too but it's nothing like the same thing and it's not even made by Quaker!
Like everyone else I love a good curry, and although there are some pretty good indian restaurants here, they're few and far between and you rarely get the sort of service and extras that are considered standard in UK. Also the taste of the curries is not the same, especially Chicken tikka masala. They just don't know how to make it right here!
I really miss being able to go into any pub and get a great tasting and reasonably priced meal. Here most pubs serve very expensive food which is supposed to be "gourmet" and it's hard to find anything on the menu that I even recognise, let alone that tastes good!
Of course I miss real fish and chips. Here in Australia you typically find the fish is what they call "Butterfish" which actually isn't even a type of fish but they use it to describe any fish that is cheap and nasty and bland in taste! The batter is often bright yellow and far too thin and soggy, rather than crispy and golden as it should be. The chips vary from very good to terrible, and they often serve it with a very poor quality salad, as opposed to lovely tasty beans or just salt and vinegar!

Cadbury's Wispas are back, yummies.
I've been back in the UK for a month now and still haven't gone and got a saveloy. I have been too busy eating everything else
