You're not alone - I did that with my company Blackberry once, but I was able to find the pieces. Pulled over to see what it was when something flew past my window.

A colleague put down her company laptop, in its bag, to strap her young daughters into her SUV; then she reversed over the laptop! .... She was known to be a bit ditzy, but WTF would anyone put their computer, or anything else for that matter, down directly in the path of the vehicle they are about to drive away. ..... Anyone care to guess her hair colour?

The hassle is changing passwords on everything. The iPad had a lock pin on it but they can be broken with a bit of effort. Not sure how stuff gets stored on iPads.

Discovered on thing if change your BE password, and then open a browser that keeps BE open in the background, such as Safari on the iPad you still get access to BE without logging in.

does the ipad have the find my iphone app like the phones do so you can locate it via GPS?

Apple products are typically expensive which is now why i avoid them. My iphone was in my shorts pocket when i jumped in the pool last summer

Yes it's got the finder software on it but it is a WiFi only one. Until it connects to the Internet it doesn't show up. When it does my iPhone will send a signal to erase the data on it.

I expect someone has picked it up. It's on the police system as lost so if anyone runs the serial number it will come up.

Cousin did that....he noticed just as it flew off as they got onto I-495.

Luckily, apart from the back getting scratched up, it was fine.

The irony really being a week later that he dropped an empty mug on the corner of the thing and shattered the screen all around the edge

GPS signal doesn't need wifi though, so should be able to locate it. Can't do anything about the data I suppose for now though.
