Default Diesel Cars

We're now thinking of buying a diesel car. Well we're just starting our research, buying is always a "couple of months" down the line. But gas/petrol prices being what they are..... Anyway, really like the look of a Volkswagen Jetta, however, finding diesel is like finding a needle in a haystack. I should say we're looking at used/pre-owned, whatever you want to call them.

So do any of you own a diesel, what do you think of them, etc.....

Really? The TDIs are a dime a dozen around here. Unfortunately I exceed the maximum height requirements for a Jetta, so it doesn't work for me. (Not to mention the subpar Mexican build quality.) And there's not much else in that price range. Wish Honda would start selling their European diesels over here.

Diesels release more toxins than regular gas cars and are for extremely selfish people trying to save a few cents and farmers only.

If you want to economise on gas get a hybrid.

Sorry. Misread your post. Diesel is easy to find here too, so can't help you.

Yes, my husband did say they were manufactured in Mexico...... Not to say because its built there, but he's heard they're not very well manufactured.

And I'll consider the fact that diesels are for selfish people Davy......

I guess I mis-misread your post. Look at the first letter / number of the VIN in the windscreen: 1 is USA, 2 is Canada, 3 is Mexico, W is Germany.

On a recent trip to England we rented a Puegeot 407 TDi, it was about the size of a Chrysler 300 and did an amazing 60 mpg !

I have only seen one Puegeot dealer over here and that was on route 17 in New Jersey heading up towards Mahwah. I doubt if I could get a 407 here.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other. Choose your poison.
