As long as you plug it in, yes.

Sorry - Canadians have their own proprietary version of electricity which is incompatible with the UK system (and most other places in the world).

Just kidding. Yes, your computer will work.

Laptops tend to have auto-switching power supplies that will work with 110v and 220/240v systems.

Desktops use power supplies which should be manually switchable between 110v (US/Canadian) and 220v (close to UK 240v system). And if it isn't, PC power supplies are easy components to rip out and replace - you could get a replacement one in the UK if needs be. But I would be very surprised if your existing one is not switchable.

You will need a cord with a plug from the socket into the power supply - again very easy to obtain in the UK. Or you could use an adapter to "convert" the US/Canadian plug to fit into a UK socket. Probably easiest to get that in Canada before you go to the UK.

as mentioned, it'll depend on the PSU...if it has a red tag like switch on the back that you can slide, then yes, slide that and get a new power cord which is about £3 and your sorted, if you have to get a new power supply, then that's about £20 for normal shite one, though for a half decent puter you'll want a high wattage supply, so between £40-100...depends on the brand and if you want a nice quiet one which spreads the heat well etc, anyway, it only takes five mins to switch over a PSU.

Also don't forget to check the voltage requirements for the other bits, monitor, printer, speakers, etc.

best to leave all that crap behind, cheaper to get new here than to luck it, unless you have a monster quality monitor.....and pretty much every PSU out of the EU is dual voltage unlike the kack out in the US.

depends on the player, if it is dual voltage, then yes, other wise you'll need a power adaptor as well....and of course, you'll have to hack it to make it a regionless player or you won't be able to play UK dvd's that are region 2

What about the ntsc vs pal thing? Do all US DVD players work with UK TV's?

If not, and you want a cheap DVD player to take home that plays all regions (after hacking), plays on PAL and NTSC, and is dual voltage, try: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...lance&n=172282

most tv's in the UK unless it's a donkey of years old won't have an issue playing ntsc these days tbh....it's US tele's that generally have the problem, mainly because there made for the US market, lot of EU tele's are made to play all over the EU and they just change the plug....slight over simplification, but the hardware inside is generally the same there.
