Me too! I don't eat fish from anywhere except a British chippy and only then after they have re-fried it for me so it's nice n crispy;)

Noone in this family eat fish, shame really cause i'm thinking that there will be a lot of it about in SC:unsure:

I don't own a deep fat fryer, I won't use a chip pan with LO in the house either.

I do have a good fish and chip shop near by, but they don't batter the fish, they bread it.

It just makes my day to call you all ***************************'s :p

 Can't say I blame you not wanting a chip pan in the house with LO, the fryer I have has a temp control thingamajig on it, so it can't get any hotter than max (or set on fire) My son would starve to death if I couldn't make his nuggets n chips

I have a deep fat fryer but I never use it in the house because of the smell...I use it out on the deck.

I hate batter...yuck all that grease. At least I can roll the chips on kitchen towel to get rid of the grease. I am very suspicious of anything that's chopped, minced, breaded or battered. I like to see exactly what I'm eating.

I pat the grease off everything too, on paper towels....the smell is a bit off putting, but I usually have mine next to the cooker and put the hood vent on.

Good idea though, using it outside, I may try that too;)

Yum :)

For those in Maine, The Whales Tooth in Lincolnville, they do the best fish and chips I've ever eaten here...you can't miss the place because, well apart from the canon on the water, there's nothing else to see in the town as you drive through :D

I found a great place in Denver last week. It was called GB fish n chips. I think it was run by real Brits. No fishcakes though!

Well, if you read the first review on the yelp site, you'll read this gem of a comment ... "The haddock has a brilliant texture, almost as if you're eating turkey breast." So that should set your mind at rest! Now, for me, this comment suggests the guy has no clue about food ... good fish is 10x better than turkey breast ... :) ... but then, good fish does not come in batter ...

Can always chuck the batter...it just steams the fish inside and keeps it moist, actually pretty healthy way to eat it if the fillets are large enough.
