I once found half a dead cat in the yard. Coyotes were suspected.

Memorizing 100 answers is a small feat, compared to the enormous compilation we need, as we pursue higher education. Memorization is, but an excellent exercise of the brain. We live in one of the most free societies in the world and it wouldn't hurt for the children to comprehend civics.

You have just summed up the problem with education in general. And you can see the push back to making kids comprehend rather than just memorize stuff when you look at the arguments against common core math.
