I went to Home Depot yesterday to take the kids to the kids workshop anyway no workshop but ended up seeing the tree lot and brought one home.....this is the earliest I've ever started decorating as I usually start around Mid Dec....well now I'm feelling Xmassy....will I be able to maintain this Xmas excitement for another 22 days??

If Rushman can, you can.

not worth the effort

I have that issue too this year. There is no place a tree would be safe in this house and I can't have a poincetta because they're poisonous.

I don't "do" anything. I do it when I please and not let anyone dictate to what or how I celebrate Christmas, Vic. Its not about where you're at, its about what makes you happy, regardless. I just wondered if you thought there was a specific date. Because I can't recall anyone being that specific in the UK. Be happy Vic, I know its a hard time of year.

nope no specific date in the uk that i've ever heard of. i tend to put them up a bit earlier when i'm here than in good old blighty but i guess it's just whenever suits. however i can't stand them up into the new year, once jan 1 is over then i'm ready to take them down. we're away this xmas so no decs up for us thank god....lol

i saw some lovely classy black trees in the uk last year also in vegas a few weeks ago...thought if i was putting a tree up this yr i'd go black and silver but then i have some lovely tree decorations that have memories for instance a tree dec my son made when he was 4...also i've collected a special one for each year hubs and i have been together and non of these would look good on a black tree

ok problemo solved maybe next year i'll have to put up two trees, one black and the other traditional.....

$60 to $80 :scared: Bloody rippoff.

Did you decorate it too or just fed it and left it at that?

We were given a free Fraser fir at the weekend from hubby's boss who was told by his Mrs that it was not big enough! so we scored a freebie
Usually we put an old artificial up, but as we have just moved into our new home and have finally settled I plan on decorating this week.
I have just returned from the shop with all the stuff to make gingerbread cookie decorations
I'm a bit of a saddo to make cookie decos but the folks just left after a wonderful 3 week visit and I'm a little bored

I am a bloke. I went out and hunted a tree.
Found one, bagged it and lashed it to the roof of the truck.
Sawed off the end with a big sharp masculine saw (with muscles rippling) and dumped it into a stand. I even set it up straight and watered it.

That's my work done until Boxing Day......

I'd not bother for a bit yet, but we did get our tree today, letting it fluff, and the missus will decorate tomorrow because we won't have time to do it next week and all that.

$40 though, having a laugh there weren't they...$10 up in maine, or free if FIL could be arsed to hack one down at work...but I didn't fancy the 4.5 hour drive with the boot half open *l*
