Default Boxes of woodscrews?

Can't seem to find any decent online places here for woodscrews in box quantities of 100/200 like in the UK. I am sick of getting ripped off by Lowes by paying dollars for 10 or 20 screws at a time.

Any ideas?

chartreuse is an unknown quantity at this point

I'm surprised that your local Lowes (or Home Despot - cheers Mo) doesn't carry them in bulk. IME they generally have the same thing in three places at three different prices - but I must admit to never having shopped for bulk screws at one of the big box places.

Alternatively, have you got any local, proper, hardware stores? I buy cabinet screws, etc by the pound at my local lumber yard. Stuff like 6d nails etc I get by the big box. And... the best bit is, rooting around at the back of the shelves I found a bunch of the green plastic boxes of Spax screws. German mfr and, imho, the best wood screws you can get.

We just completed a large project and we were able to buy large boxes of screws at Lowes. They call these contractor packs, and they are usually in a different aisle than the regular hardware; ask a clerk.

There are huge piles of screws, even upto 1000 packs in Lowes and Home Depot. You might want to ask around a bit as you might be in the wrong section. If you can't find exactly what you want there, see if there is a True Value Hardware nearby. They often cater to smaller contractors and have some odd sized items.

(I'm looking at about 10 boxes of 200ct+ nails and screws right now on my shop table mostly from Home Depot).

Weird, my local lowes has massive boxes, some measured by weight because there are so many screws/nails in them. Don't know how many screws you get in a 5lb box but it looks like a lot and way more than I'll ever need in my lifetime!

Home Depot definitely sells large packs of screws by weight. Would be very surprised if Lowes didn't.

Ditto.. DH just bought tons and built a fence. Just asked him where they came from: Lowe's.

try a local hardware store?

My local one, you can buy nuts/bolts/washers/screws etc individually, in packs of 10, 100 or 1000 for the trade folks.

Thanks all.

I will check out the suggestions. I did find some boxes in Lowes but still overpriced IMHO, about $5 with tax for a box, smaller screws like 8x1" had 100 in and bigger screws like 10x2" only 50.

Still seems like 2 or 3 times the UK price even taking the exchange rate into account.
