Default BIG pat on the back!!

I think people like us that have made the move shouldnt think that failure should even come into the conversation. Only for the ones staying in their chosen country to sit and moan and never to do anything about it, I have know many that have sat on their backsides telling everyone what their country should be like, what the government should do, how education and the health service should be run, immigration etc etc but that will never happen!! We all know that its not going to happen...............where ever you live.

But for many that made that move I think we are all Courageous. Whether again we stay in that new country or not, or head back to where our families, friends and familiarity and language is. Its our choice. At least we know much more than any pink and fluffy TV programme made, magazines that are published, information CD's that are on offer, exhibitions and courses. We have lived it. What an experience. Yes we lost a lot of money, not our fault, this time!!! But we couldnt pay this price in experience, enrichness of life and knowledge and yes we have, I think got this out of our system, and if we have to move back to England, well Iam sure we will look at the country with different eyes.
Much more than any one telling us!!

To all who is thinking of going back to their country again, Good luck, WELL DONE for having the courage, and yes you will pick up the pieces again.

Life is too short to worry about those who think weve failed and rubbing their hands with told you so, because I have a wealth in answers, but not verbally public!!!

Peace, Love and light to all

Lovely post!!

I said on another post earlier today that I just can't understand why people even think that they have failed because they choose to return to the UK. Emigrating is not a test that you pass or fail - it's an experience and like you said, you live through it. Whatever the outcome no-one can take that experience away from you and it changes you, it changes your outlook and it changes your personality.

We came back to the UK and see it now through fresh eyes despite only being away for a year. Tonight I sat outside with my glass of wine looking out over beautiful fields watching the farmer at work in the distance and I could have truly burst with happiness. Simple thing I know but I was just so happy

Good luck to everyone either thinking of returning or embarking on your journey home - hope it's as good for you

I think it is a bit like dating! You try it, if it does not quite work out for you , you move on. There is no fail or pass to this!

Good luck

Great post - although Oz was not for me - unless I had lived there I would never have realised how great life in the UK is.

Isnt it crazy how some people have to see everything in their world as success or failure?
It's as if their whole life is one big competition with themselves and/or those around them. What happened to happy or sad? That is far more important to me. I prefer to look at everything from that standpoint.
I refuse to see anything i have done as a failure, more a learning experience no matter what context.

Yes it's a sure recipe for disaster in my opinion. Some people would also rather stay quietly miserable to keep up appearances rather than admit to themselves and others that they made a wrong decision or simply didn't like something

Those sad people who think returning folks have failed have most probally never been out of their own county let alone country!

I have not enjoyed the challenges moving to the USA has given us but it just is not in my childrens educational benefit to stay here to give it longer.

Although I will be most relieved to get home in a way I wont regret coming here as its better than wondering what could have been.

Good luck and love to all who are staying and to all who are going!

I came to New York over 30 years ago, the first 2 or 3 years were the best of my life, then I felt I would like to go home! I went back the same week the thought entered my mind as the circumstances were right. After a year in London (which I still visit almost every year) I came back to NY. Every now and then I feel the need to go back but I go over to visit.

A friend of mine has been back to New York FOUR times, lol She gets so home sick for Liverpool she goes home after a few years each time. I believe this is right for her as it was for me to return and then come back here.
