Default Been here too long - time to go home

I took part in my first small town America parade yesterday. It was the normal collection of crappy floats, no talent cheer leaders and tone deaf marching bands and I quite enjoyed it.

I'd never heard of funnel cake but it looks similar to a beaver tail.. but it seems to have more nooks & crannies to trap the grease.

Next week is 'homecoming' week back where we lived in IL. Probably the one thing I will miss about being there!

DH was introduced to 'em at the semiannual plant sale at the Bamboo Farm-he loves 'em.

I never had 'em til I went to the Ohio State Fair.

Sigh. Now a thing of the past......

No grease!!! Or at least I never saw any. The nooks and crannies are to trap the confectionary sugar sprinkled on the top.

It's called Milwaukie Daze it is just a summer festival, parade, games for the kids, music stage by the river, beer tent and fireworks. Doesn't celebrate anything just for a fun day.

I must say, I love those things too. Maybe there is an equivalent in UK, but I don't recall one (May Day, with a Maypole...?)
