BBC Site

You may have noticed that the BBC has changed their News site so that international users can no longer get a "UK Edition". I didn't notice for a day, then realized what had happened.
I then tracked down info on the change and, unsurprisingly, there's a lot of unhappy people. Seems to be all about forcing ads on people accessing from overseas (for those not using Adblock Plus or similar).

It's not that bad is it? Just click on the home page and then go to "front page news" and select "UK", under that there's the usual section to click on for England, with all the stories.
No, it's not the same as it was, and yes I did prefer the old version where you could select the same page that everyone sees back home.
ps, Silent Hill was one of the weirdest movies I ever saw, Sally.

Heh - I thought it was just me.
The other day I also came across an ad with bloody sound playing for the first time.
As for their explanations - what a load of balls...
So hardly anyone used the feature, but because of potential side effects of a feature hardly anyone used they changed the page. All to do with the ad revenue which to be fair they do mention further down the explanation.
The decision to attempt to cram even more ads onto the international homepage also seems strange as that page is jam packed with info - really far too much for a homepage as it is.

So why bother with the change? Because the option allowing you to choose "site versions" (which relatively few of you actually chose to use) has started to lead to some potentially frustrating experiences for you, as well as some significant technical complications for us.
