Re: Baltimore
Every year our city does a "clean up" day when you can leave five or so bulky items such as old mattresses, gas grills, appliances etc out. The few days prior to the city collection there are teams of guys in trucks scouring the neighborhoods for anything they can salvage. They're very efficient.

Nicely written piece here

Also someone pointed out to me, apparently police brutality victims in Baltimore are made to sign a non-disparagement agreement much more restrictive than other places.
Baltimore settlements on police brutality more restrictive than in other cities - Baltimore Sun

Outside those 2 weekends, we have twice a week garbage that will take anything that is left on the kerb - stuff that goes out the night before will often have disappeared before the garbage trucks arrive the next morning. One of my neighbours chases the collectors off if he sees them, but I don't know what his beef is - as far as I can see its the ultimate recycling, as long as folk don't illegally dump it if they decide they can't use it.

Re: Baltimore
You're often better leaving it at the end of your drive, someone will take it for scrap metal. Even if there's no copper in it.
We got rid of our old water heater that way. Put it at the end of the drive in the morning before work, I had to head home at lunch for something and it was gone. We had an old AC compressor round the side of our house for a while and people would slow down and eye it up (but didn't come in to our yard).
Got to love the scrappers.

I stopped to look at a cooker dumped at the side of a rural road a few months ago but it was too heavy and awkward to lift on my own. I went back the next day, but it was gone.

Baseball game is being played without any fans, and the weekend games have been moved to Florida.

They're rather smug about the fact that Baltimore's been run exclusively by one party for some 50 years. It's Schadenfreude.
Mrs. Danvers, we have the LG front loader. You'll have to get used to leaving the door to the washer open ALL the time. Mrs. Aetius uses a wire hanger that she shaped to hook onto the door handle at one end and hook onto the rubber seal at the other to hold it open about 2 - 3 inches. LG should offer a device that does the same thing, but with Korean elegance. I love their Korean Air TV adverts.

Re: Baltimore
Does she need the National Guard because Baltimore's Finest have lost whatever confidence they might have had in her and cannot be fully relied upon?
