The Ashes--radio or tv coverage
Thought I'd post this here rather than in the Locker Room as it's a US specific radio/tv question:
The beeb has streaming Ashes radio cover and highlights, but like most sport it's blocked from those of us outside the UK. I'm not clever enough to know if it's possible to get round this or not, but have a husband and visiting brother who'd like to be able to catch some highlights. BBC World Service isn't covering it, not sure about Aussie radio or other sources. Any suggestions? We have FSC so that gives them some daily updates via Sky Sports News, and they can check the scores online, but looking for radio or video that is live (and preferably free). Thanks. |
Re: The Ashes--radio or tv coverage
Can you listen online? I've not listened to much more than the occasional pre-recorded Radio 4 comedy show, but there's a great selection. :)

Re: The Ashes--radio or tv coverage
there's a few options...a proxy might help you get around the IP block, and you can do a search here for how to set it up, probably in various football threads, I'm a bit to gutted right now to bother search for it.
But, tbh, unless you have a decent proxy server to use, it ain't worth it for anything but radio because it won't have the bandwidth to get a smooth stream. Easiest, would be UK nova, but it wouldn't be live. http://livefooty.doctor-serv.com/ that site is for football and basketyball, but they have done the odd other event now and again. http://craftytv.com/ This site streams ITV, so if the ashes are on ITV, your all set. |

Re: The Ashes--radio or tv coverage
How can you get 'Steaming' video coverage of the slowest, most boring game on Earth ?
I spent two hour every week of my summer months at school playing Cricket and STILL have no idea how the f**k they score or tell who won ?   |
Re: The Ashes--radio or tv coverage
I haven't checked but are you sure it's UK only. Last summer I was able to listen to it online with no bother. It's actually great listening to in on the radio because the commentators are mental, talk complete crap and argue with each other.

..that's what th boys tell me. They enjoy listening to it on the radio, but most sport radio now is now blocked outside of the UK. It's a newish thing do to licensing. During the World Cup there were a lot of expats asking the BBC if they could purchase a BBC license and have access to the online coverage :) BBC said no, due to contractual rules. We'll try it out though-just in case! |
