You appear to have a short memory, and/or not bothered to read the several detailed and highly pertinent posts on the subject in this thread, for starters misinterpreting/ misconstruing my post that was specifically about college football players as being about the NFL. We all know that rugby and gridiron football are completely different games, but as others have said (not only me), there is a wealth of athletic ability in US colleges such that with the right coaching they could undoubtedly put together a world-class rugby team.

Careful about elevating rugby players to unrealistic levels of athletic prowess. Perhaps the modern players are well trained but it doesn't take much to think back to the amateur era with a bunch of fat part time lawyers and doctors stumbling about a muddy field hands on knees trying to catch a breath (or a smoke).
