Thumbs up American Airlines Looking For Flight Attendants

AA have put a notice on their FB Page, looking for Flight Attendants.

http://www.aacareers.com/us/frame_in...us/index.shtml

This might come in handy if you have a Young-un in the Job Market + the Flight Benefits would come in quite handy for Family Members, too.

Thanks for that, my friends daughter is looking to be a flight attendant, and is graduating college in two weeks.

And therein lies a large part of the problem with the US education system, economy, and US citizens' personal finances. Other than desperation for a job, why would anyone spend four years getting a degree only to become an air hostess?

I know, I never thought she'd actually even get to Uni and she has taken 6 years to get her degree, (not in Finnish that would be semi useful) but she was determined to get it and had to work so hard for every grade, poor love. It's in Child psychology, so she'll make wonderful Cabin crew, being perky and blond California beach girl looking I think she's a shoe in.

I'm not sure if she'd be we'll enough qualified with just a BA in Child Psych. She could go for the flight attendant degree at Liberty University..

I have to agree, the rationalisation of routes can only result in few FAs needed. Unless of course they have an older demographic.

A jobs a job and it's a good away as any to see some of the world?

Well you generally need languages and/or experience to get international flights but degree in languages and first aid experience does do wonders for the pay and benefits for some airlines, I know they do for BA/Virgin/Alitalia/Japan at least.

The same reason you'd get one to be a pilot. It's not required, but you'll need one to get a sniff at the majors... and who wants to be flying Saab 340s on $17,000 for the rest of their life?

I wasn't doubting that employers can and do ask for graduates, I was merely pointing out that there are now many jobs in the US, and an increasing number in the UK which could be done entirely satisfactorily by someone who does not have degree level education. I can see that it makes for some hostesses in each crew to have degrees, but for a degree to be a blanket requirement is financially absurd, as it for beat cops, ward nurses, and many other occupations.

It's not that it's all that necessary, but it's a simple HR filter to dump hundreds of applications in the bin ain't it.
