Exclamation Airfares Set To SkyRocket - For Holiday Travel

For those thinking of going to Blighty, you may want to think about getting your tickets asap.

CNN is reporting that prices are set to rise by 50%+ for Travel around the Christmas Holidays.

Going back 8 years, my mum passed away unexpectedly on thanksgiving day, at the time I was pregnant so there was only the 3 of us. When I first looked online I was being quoted prices of $9000 plus luckily I was able to get a bereavement fare for $3000.

The problem is that normally if you book three months in advance of any flight, the fairs are at their highest and start reducing down about one month in advance of the flight as airlines determine that they need more passengers.

However for Christmas and other major holidays, it doesn't help to wait since the airlines are usually 100% booked well in advance of the holidays.

But what if 600 of us chartered an Airbus A380 and threw a big party onboard there and back.

Would that work?

Edit: We could use the extra space to load up on Choccies, Jammie Dodgers and all the other stuff that we all crave..........Just a thought.

If everyone was paying the same price, it would still cost you 2 or 3 times the normal economy fare.

I bought my tickets a month ago. Three weeks ago they went on sale. Story of my life.

We're going back at Christmas. Been watching the fares into Teesside since the summer, and they've been consistently around $1500 each (7500 for the family). Today, BA into Newcastle (via LHR) came in at 6600 for the 5 of us, so we booked it. Better departure times, but 45 mins from my Mams, so not quite as convenient as Teesside which is only 20 mins, but for $900 its worth the extra drive (which my sister will be doing anyway - I'll be asleep!)
