After Naturalization....?
Wow, it's been a really long time since I posted about this. We started our journey in 2001 and today my husband completed his tests. He takes his oath next month and then the process is complete?
After 8 years of having this long, drawn-out process hanging over our heads, I'm wondering--is this it? Now that he's naturalized, do we have to do more? (aside from the ceremony) I just want to know since it has been hanging over our heads for so long, not to have it there anymore seems....unbelievable?
Also, is there some place to post experiences? When we started this, there were some websites, but many of them have closed or been changed, so I wasn't sure if anyone still posts like that.
I know we never would've made it to where we are today without the great resources (and people) we've found here.
Thanks for any help!

My husband just had his Oath Ceremony in Phoenix a few weeks ago, and it was an awesome day. I'm also feeling like it's unreal that we don't have anything immigration-wise to look forward to. LOL What the heck will we DO?!

Re: After Naturalization....?
After my husband's oath ceremony, they had reps from SS downstairs, we stood in line to turn in a new SS application. He also had a name change, so we got a new card....but yes, he needs to update his status from LPR to USC with SS, he is eligible for more SS benefits as a USC than an LPR, so don't forget to do that!
You can go in to the SS office with a new application and his naturalization certificate.

Just a few more things:
1. Go in to SSA and change the status to that of an USC.
2. Apply for US Passport
Congratulations to your husband

Congratulations for navigating the yellow brick road and finding Kansas again.
Yes, there are some things to be done once he is naturalized:
1. Immediately apply for a US Passport;
2. Go in person to the SSA with his naturalization certificate and have his records updated to reflect his new status as a citizen; and
3. Keep a file folder of all applications and supporting documents for each of your petitions.
