Read the "Think Progress" (yeah, love the totally non-partisan flavour of that name) article. Looks like political payback in the works. What's fun is watching the anguished voices comparing the sleaze they foresee to that in Texas and Mississippi - when they border on that shining example of political rectitude, Illinois (oh, yeah, forgot, that one's run by the Democrats).

Here's an example of the hysteria expressed when a favourite political cudgel is snatched off the table:Colour me cynical.

Well, other states manage to keep the sleaze within acceptable bounds without having a "John Doe" procedure. That sounds too much like an invitation for activists to anonymously cooperate with hyper-partisan DAs to tie up political opponents with endless investigations and with strategic leaks to the press to destroy those political opponents on the thinnest of charges. I'm talking about the procedure, not that it didn't maybe correctly bag 6 of Walker's people. But there is an urge in this country to criminalize political opposition.

Glad to see we're not too far apart. I'm not saying Walker is lily-white. He's survived a relentless campaign to bring him down and he's now just as hard-boiled and cutthroat as his opponents.

I think he's always been cutthroat. I do think the Democrats made a bad tactical error in trying to recall him in '12 though.

Agree. Trump will trash Carson - in, for him, the nicest way possible. Too easy to lose points for being the bully. No one else has the chutzpa to touch Carson.

Fiorina will try to get a break-out by going after The Hill. Auditioning for VP if, as is likely, she can't get to the top. Like Hillary she's going to play the gender card, but not as overtly.

Let's see if Cruz can vault into second place if either Trump or Carson fall a couple of spots and Bush and Rubio cancel each other out. [Is Leslie rooting for Cruz?]

Hard to believe any organization in this country, charged with cleaning the political stables or running things, is "independent." From the US Supreme Court with its incessant party line votes, (and the Florida Supreme Court in 2000?), to the FCC, EPA, NLRB, the weaponized IRS, DOJ and FBI, to the thousands of DAs around the country, everything is charged with politics.

If the Wisconsin board has nabbed crooks in both parties one would probably have to look at which party was in the majority on the board when someone got bagged.

We need to import some Canadians to clean up our shite-filled barns.

Yeah. Utility bills are on their list. That worked in 2012. There is a story, undoubtedly apocryphal, that several busloads of Chicago residents were bused into Wisconsin to vote - early and often, of course. They all had photocopies of utility bills and were accompanied by a lawyer who threatened to sue the poll workers if they didn't let his people register and vote. So they did and they did, and then boarded their buses and motored to the next county to repeat the process - probably with a fresh sheaf of utility bills.

In 2012, 48,000 people registered to vote in Milwaukee on election day, 17% of the total. It would take an army of people weeks to pore through the voter registration and voting records, check the addresses and who lives there, probably to find no one at the address. No one has the time and money to do that, ergo, voter fraud is hardly ever proved.

You'd think that a governor so intent on voter id to "combat fraud" would be able to investigate this and find such "obvious" voter fraud to bolster this case. Like this, for example:
