Default 18 Years

Just happened to notice the date on the task bar and realized that 18 years ago today I arrived at PDX, from Frankfurt, clutching a MBE and started my life in the USA. It has been an interesting and enjoyable time, which I'm very glad to have had the opportunity to experience.

Congratulations! It was my "anniversary" just a week ago, though I preceded you by many decades . . . I still recall that I had a remembrance poppy pinned to my coat, and my whole life in one suitcase.

Accordingly to BE, I've been here since April 2001 ... 23 years. In reality, I have been a part of this forum since it originated on Deja Vue back in 1997. Jim has been in the US first as a K-1 recipient in 1998 and then a LPR in 2001 and a US Citizen since 2003. WOW! over two decades dealing with INS and all its reincarnations.

I concur with your thoughts, life here has certainly been interesting - I arrived five years and a few days before you, my anniversary being November 6. It was an interesting time to arrive in NYC, less than two months after 9/11.

It really is crazy how fast things have gone. Feels like only yesterday I was stepping off the plane with my immigration package clutched to my chest.

Ten years on December 14th.

Yes, it's been interesting. I arrived in Florida 2004, and immediately got hit by hurricane Charlie.

On February 1, 2007 my wife and I went to work together, as we had done for four years at that time. The next day our daughter was born.

On August 18th, 2025 we set out for work together again, for the first time in 18½ years, same time, from the same house, but in a newer Accord. We had dropped our daughter off at uni the previous Thursday, so there we were, right where we had been all those years earlier, but it felt like it had just been yesterday!
