Regarding the sound ... I love that 'chirping sound' you get on warm summer evenings with the windows open. But ... am I mixing up cicadas and crickets?

They are pretty distinct from crickets, at least anytime I have been to Palm Springs and heard them.

According to this - https://www.npr.org/2015/09/08/43847...katydids-apart
Cicadas make their noise during the day, Crickets are what you hear at night.
"People sometimes describe night-calling insects as cicadas. But typically, cicadas call during the day, and what we're hearing at night are crickets and katydids."

They won't affect me in the least. All I have to do is turn off the hearing aid and I won't hear a sound.
