has anyone ever used a profesional team/ person to assist in the writing of a teaching application? Just wondering if anyone could suggest anyone in the Perth area or someone who knows DET WA?

What do you need to know. I am a Deputy Principal at a school in WA and know what is expected in an application to a WA school. PM me if you like.

Hi I am a teacher from Birmingham and am moving to WA in January. I've only just joined the forum and have to post three times before I can send private messages. I've sent my cv off to a few schools with not much response so far is there anything you can advise? I have seven years experience, smt, co-ordinator responsibilities etc so have tried to tailor my letter to the school. Am wondering how likely it is that schools will be interested until I arrive or if there's so much competition; recruitment companies have given very mixed messages... Many thanks

Most teaching positions will require you to write to selection criteria and the STAR process is the one that is usually recommended http://www.bom.gov.au/careers/guide2SC.shtml (not teaching but public service nevertheless) is a good start to begin to tailor your applications.

Be aware, too, that there is huge competition for teaching places in the places that people actually want to live so unless you are secondary maths and science you may have to revise your expectations either as to location or occupation
