Default Work experience question

Hi there

Wondered if any teachers could help clarify something?

The 'recent' work experience requirements state that you need to have worked 12/18 months before applying.

How does that work for holidays/sickness etc...

I am thinking a 12 month period of employment working as a teacher might involve fewer actual weeks worked than say an office worker. A teacher might put in 38-40 weeks over the 12 month period but an office worker might put in 45 weeks.

Do DIAC go into such detail or is it sufficient to have been employed for a 12 month period?

Also what happens about sickness, holidays etc? Is that taken into account.

People have different periods of time off due to sickness/holidays over a typical 12 month period.

Any help appreciated.

Thank you.

Default Re: Work experience question

You just need to be prove you've been employed for 12 months and at over 20 hours a week.

If you can get a reference from your Head saying something like 'X has been employed from 1st Sept 05 to 1st Sept 06' (for example) this should be fine. Holidays and sickness normally won't be considered.

You could always include payslips to help prove work experience.

Good luck! ws
