They will probably still be building it when we have got out there. Or maybe not....depends how long it is going to take us!!!!

I thought you couldn't request where to go Gems????

Not too sure wether to apply for the provisional or full registration...to apply for full it says that you should have been employed as a teacher for 1 year out of the last 5. Well I have been employed as a teacher for almost 2 years but as supply through my LEA and not worked every week...should I go for the full and let them decide when they see my employment history on the form????

Dur...so many Q's
Glad you finally found the right form, but don't worry about registration just yet, DET will let you know when to register, but get the prelim done. About the 1 yyear teaching experince, there's a part on the form that says if you don't have that you just need proof of teaching practice (which you no doubt have)......stop worrying just take it one bit at a time. The process is quite slow to begin with and now with only weeks before the Jan 09 cohort go, we've been bombarded with requests for so many things that need to be emailed asap, we're all like 'why didn't you ask for these things months ago?' but we too excited to really care!!!
Anyway, feel free to pick my brains anytime, but I warn you, it's dangerously close to the end of term, the brain's in shut-down mode

the prelim and registration are all on one form!!!!! so I have to send off for my transcripts today and when I get them I send them off with my registration form. Check out this link and see if you agree http://www.wacot.wa.edu.au/index.php?section=24

its the form at the top...application for new members. You have to decide if you want prov or full registration, send transcripts etc, pay for police check and registration. Maybe it has changed from when you applied!

Hence my query about prov or full, they are different prices. No good emailing WACOT...they don't reply!!!

You cant really, however they do ask about your preferences.
So you can say Geraldton and they will try, or another town that may be suitable for hubbies work.

The Preliminary Assessment form has apparently been revised and is only available through Dept of Education and Training. Email [email protected] with enquiries. It appears that the system has changed and you have to go through them first. I have heard through contacts, that DET are inundated with enquiries and will only look at those who fit their areas of need, and WACOT will not do preliminary assessments any more unless DET are interested in someone. Good Luck everyone...

I am still waiting to hear after interview.... seems my referees are causing the problem... anyone else in the same situation????

Hi Gems, at which stage do they ask for your preferences? I already had to choose regions in my EOI...was this it?

If I were you, I'd chase up the referees like mad!!! Everybody's very busy so you have to be really proactive (even get into stalker mode) to get your refences. With mine one of them kept saying they'd do it, but always very busy (deputy headteacher) and the other one kept saying they never received the email from DET requesting a reference. In the end I went to the school, took a box of chocs for me old mates in the staffromm and 'bingo', the reference got emailed off there and then and I was given a copy.

It was the email from teaching WA (same email addy as the one in your message above)that told me to apply on the WACOT form for assessment and registration. I got the email 6 days ago so I presumed that it would be up to date. Does anyone else know which way is the correct way (or quickest way) to do things?

I am making myself a nuisance with Teaching WA I am sure, as I am emailing all the time. But they are the people to contact for anything to do with the sponsorship program. The person I am dealing with seems to change. I was first dealing with Charlotte Ramsey, but now, it is with Lisa Zivkovic. Email contact is through [email protected] until you get a direct reply from someone. Good Luck in your application!
