PGCE (Lifelong Learning) & GTP & MA ~ Australia Teaching
Hi all ~ This is a query that may be a bit unusual, only for the fact that I got into teaching by an unusual route. My first teaching qualification (PGCE in Lifelong Learning) qualifies me to teach ages 14-19, plus adult learners and undergraduates. My second qualification (GTP) means that I also have QTS for ages 11-16. Plus I have an MA in Literature and am on the way to getting an MA in Teaching and learning.
My concern is that my PGCE won't be recognised in Australia as a qualification to teach in secondary schools, even though I have taught in a secondary school for the last 5 years. (Prior to that I taught at an FE college).
Would it be worth me applying for my visa on the basis that I can teach at college/university, or apply as a secondary school teacher (which I currently do)? I realise that the GTP isn't a recognised teaching qualification is Oz, and really don't want to scupper my chances before sending off for my Skills Assessment...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
