Default medicals for 457 visa

hi this is a question for the guys who have laready been through the process of medicals etc for the 457 visa.
assuming i am succesful and find out in four weeks that WA det are sponsering me for the 457 visa how quick can the medical be sorted out for the puposes of the visa? do you find your own docter to do it or do you have to use one provided by the visa issuers? basically we want the meds sorted asap so we know that the house can be sold/ put up for lease, other than the actual getting sponsered part i can not see any other obstacle.

hope this makes sense, gems or lekki to the rescue

Hi Derek, i'm not 100% sure but i think it is the same panel doctors for all visas, here is a link to the panel doctors for the uk : http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts/over...el-doctors.htm

you will definately find all the information you need on the DIAC website, hope this helps

You book your medical with panel doctors. Someone kindly put link in previous post.

We picked up 10% off voucher at Leeds expo for a place in York, so will most likely use them

When you off to WA (if sucessful) 09 or 10?

Has to be a panel doctor as listed by Australia immigration.
They can be busy as so many people emigrating.

Teachers need medical exam, chest xray, etc.
I just needed basic medical and chest x ray.
Anyone under 10 only needs basic medical exam (no x ray). Over 10 and they need the xray too.

They have to send it off to Australia, and your not allowed to look at it.
We passed even with kids with medical conditions.

*Any existing medical conditions get a doctor or hospital letter explaining. e.g has ....... medical condition but can lead normal active life etc. Take this with you to medical and they will attach it so as not to hold up your visa.

Gems
PS, medicals valid for 12months only. So only do it soon if your coming in Jan 09, otherwise organise at time of visa application.

Derek I wouldnt have your medicals until you know for sure you are being offered a job! Could be a waste of money and the results are only valid for 12 months as Gems says. Hope you hear soon.
