Supply Agencies are everywhere depends where you want to work. If you are in the geelong and coastal area try: [email protected] and they can advise you on CRT work

Hi Taffy1

I would be interested in the answer to your home tutoring question too. I am a Primary teacher but will look at all job options when I arrive in Oz. We are hoping to move to Sydney where the chances of getting a permanent teaching post appear to be really slim unless you are willing to work out in the country. There are quite a few supply/temporary teaching posts advertised at the moment, many of them in the Catholic sector, but I assume there will be many applicants especially in suburbs nearer the city.

Yes everyone on a GSM visa has to be vetted by the correct body in Australia

Is your PGCE a secondary one?

Hi taffy
No I haven't sent off my application yet. I'm applying for a de facto spouse visa as my partner is Australian so I'm hoping that it will be processed fairly quickly when the time comes. I have a BSc and pgce. This year I will be making sure I have all the necessary paperwork ready to take to Oz so that I can satisfy the NSW requirements to teach when I arrive next year.

Sent mine in over a month ago (assessment) so hopefully here back positively soon. Yes, there is a lot to fill in but it'll be worth it in the end

I have an Aussie friend who's a music teacher in Brisbane and he says he's never had so many private students. So there should be plentyof work

If its a GSM 175 visa Ray, then you'll probably be waiting well beyond August, that is unless you intend to go over there on WHV or some other sort of temporary visa? I sent my skills assessment off to TA in December, and had my positive response last week, having now lodged the 175 visa I was told I'd be lucky to even have a CO assigned this side of 2010! It's a nightmare, and will be a very long wait, but hopefully worth it in the end...
