I've never been fond of statues of real people. Times change and society does with it, so what we may deem a good person today and put up a statue or name a building or airport after, society 100 or 200 years from now may not see it the same way.

Keep statues to generic art, and stop naming airports and buildings after people.

I for one want museums history books and even some statues the good and the bad, one example(Joan of arc).If we destroy our history how do we learn from our past, how do we learn not to make the mistakes ,how do we learn the way forward.Who decides what we burn what we keep,or even where we go.If our past is blank who are we???

Yes. A school in England was going to update who they named their houses after. JK Rowling was going to be one. Then she decided to spout her trans bullshit and the school have, quite rightly, said they'd find someone more appropriate. How about you don't go with humans at all? Do what they did at my girls' UK primary and use trees.

Beware of the Elms, though. They are really 'sleeper' agents informing the alien invaders of the best time to attack.

Had a good turn of phrase for a jackeen, did yer man Jimmy.

It's a bit late to start that.... Activists have brought things like ending segregation, women's right to vote, better working condititions, equal pay, any many other things non-activists take for granted..... Consider that.

I know, it was in the post I quoted...

Many of the activists I mentioned were arrested and sent to jail or prison for protesting. Yet ultimately, their protests succeeded in changing the status quo, which shows the status quo deserved to be protested.
