Except Boris has stated "only the brightest and the best" - without specifying any category. Perhaps there will be a marked improvement in the quality of Uber drivers!

It's the Brexit way.
If we Brexit, in a decade's time there will be many Indian and Chinese immigrants here, simply based on their huge populations and consequent high skill levels. Is that better than Eastern Europeans, debateble. At least neither the Chinese nor Indians are overly religious.

Not overly, no. I think there's some benefit in allowing Eastern Europeans to earn income in Britain and feed it back to their economy. Europe building as it were. That's why I said it's debateable.

I think you will find a high level of religious observance among Indians. Not that it matters, in fact I am baffled why you brought up the subject of religion at all.

Scamp brought it up. Religious observance and religious fundamentalism are too different things. From what I've seen of Indians in Britain over the past fifty years, their religion is colourful and reasonably benign. It seems more cultural than anything else. Hmmm...I wonder if there's anyone on BE that might know about this.

Are you religious EP?

First of all I missed that it was Scamp who brought it up (I should have guessed!) - so I apologise.

I cannot comment further on Indian religious observance, practice or fundamentalism (if any), but I know someone who can (as do you)!

As for me, my heritage / upbringing is Christian, like most Europeans.

Chinese of course are officially not religious.

I retain some basic tenets of Christianity - but have moved far away from much of the dogma & doctrine.

As Europeans, I think we all retain some basic tenets. Even me.
