Nokes is perfectly entitled to go public with the allegation, but she isn't entitled, as she seems to think she is, to do so without the slightest consequence for herself.

Now she's upset that people are "sending her to Coventry". Oh diddums. That makes her accusation sound flippant, and for someone of her standing to make a serious allegation flippantly is damaging to how such accusations are viewed generally.
Those times are quite clearly not over. Times aren't even over for consequences to members of the police force for far worse behaviour regarding sexual harrasment - unless they are named and shamed and somebody's hand is forced (no pun intended).

I don't suppose she thought for one minute that there wouldn't be blowback from her decision to speak up. That sort of thing is a classic response that women have come to expect, I'm sure, along with minimizing the original problem. I have no idea if "she's upset", or simply wanting to continue to point out the sort of reaction that complaints about bottom grabbing gets. Either way, it seems like some members of the Tory party are the ones having trouble with it, if they behave like 10-year-olds in response.

If the commission works on Zoom I wonder why he has to be in the Virgin Islands?

Ian Blackford gave Johnson a bit of a roasting today.

I suspect he doesn't want to deal with the time difference, or his constituents...

Nadine Dorries demonstrates her complete lack of knowledge.

You'd think that, as a published author, she'd have researched the subject matter, but then she probably assumed the other side would just accept what she says as fact without questions, and she could brush it off as literary licence.

I caught just a snippet of that committee session earlier, miffed that I couldn't watch a bit more, it was almost unbelievable. Looked at one point like she'd stumbled across Johnson's coke stash.

Being useless combined with an arrogant air of entitlement seems to be the primary requirement to be a government minister - as well as being little danger to Boris, of course.
Jesus H, surely there are better than this amongst our elected representatives?

Even without a change of party, there must be people who would be less divisive.... or have they all been thrown overboard by the current bunch of know-nothings?

They make Thatcher's "vegetables" look talented......

This is what I'm wondering. On the off-chance that the Tory grandees decide that Johnson has become an electoral liability, who the hell else is there in the party to put in his place?

Ken Clarke? As a stopgap, maybe...

I've been quietly thinking for a while that maybe there needs to be a radical overhaul of politics, taking out the party system and having every MP candidate stand as an Independent, and the PM elected in a seperate vote nationally.

Is that before or after a change to proportional representation?

The problem is that the turkeys will not vote for christmas, so who is going to implement any fundamental change?

Naaaaasty Pritler Patel doing what she does best : diminishing your rights !

https://inews.co.uk/opinion/priti-pa...g-bill-1316830

It is, without hyperbole or caveat, a piece of law which would sit more easily in a dictatorship than a democracy. You’d expect to see it in Belarus. But instead we’re seeing it here, under a home secretary who is now so authoritarian she poses an existential threat to British liberty.
