But could somebody please point this out to the voters?

They keep putting the same lot back in power.

Hey nobody ever said that Brits eligible to vote in a UK election are the sharpest knives in the drawer. You get what you vote for and once Labour can get their shit together than there might be a viable option for voters.

I'm repeating myself, but we need not just new parties but a new electoral system. FPTP isn't going to produce fundamental change in how the UK governs itself any time soon.

80 majority on less than half of the total votes is just plain ridiculous !

Me thinks the UK needs a Referendum on this.

And not even slightly representative.

You may be on to something there. Unlike the subject of the other recent consultative debacle, FPTP is actually a tool of "the elite".

Our guy with the nice hair made an election promise that there would be no more FPTP elections just prior to the 2016 election. We have had 2 since then and both FPTP Not wrong Premier Trudoh is an elite, silver spoon, trust fund type of guy. He used to be a drama, math, humanity and French teacher and ski instructor. Yup all the qualities of a born leader. BTW did I mention his daddy used to be a PM as well?

Ok, I'll go out on a limb and ask why Justin and daddy Pierre are being mentioned in a Tory thread, given that they both represented Libs.

The public voted for the wrong party, and now neither of the parties are the the answer.

And you believed him?

Like I said to a friend the other day, neither of the two main parties will ever push through a change in how elections are done that ends their duopoly of control. That applies equally in Canada as it does in the UK.

I certainly didn't believe him nor the other promises from the Liberals, NDP or Conservatives. This bit for B Boy As for why I mentioned the Trudoh's in a Tory thread well like every politician of every stripe they lie to the voters. A US based probably not a Tory voter was complaining about FPTP elections so I casually mentioned our experience with a promise to abolish FPTP and what happened.

Quite right. I'd much rather see businesses collapse and people go without heating. Serves them right.
