Not sure of the relevance to my post? Could the person you mentioned not get Consular help?

So only those from the Commonwealth should be exempt? Bit rich coming from someone who has complained continually about discrimination.

I would have thought anybody who was admitted to the country before the lifetime probation laws were introduced ought to be exempt.

And I think deportations should only be used in extremis anyway, which some of these cases allegedly are not.

I know what can happen.

My question is around what should happen.

The story is actually worse than it sounds, but was only picked up by the Independent.
Fatush Lala, 33, came to the UK aged 14 and was granted British citizenship in his 20s.
The Home Office later decided that there was an error on his application and cancelled his passport - but tried to contact him at the wrong address!
As passports aren't checked on exit (and blowing any claims that details from the carrier are checked, it would seem), he was not stopped on leaving for Brussels, but just on his attempted return!
He then went to the UK embassy to seek help, but was told his British passport was no longer valid and it was confiscated - leaving him stateless for weeks and unable to register in hotels, etc.
After the Independent highlighted the issue, the Home Office agreed to provide him with a travel document to return to the UK - although he had to pay £100 for it!!
Then he went to catch his train, but his temporary travel document was subjected to "intensive scrutiny" and he ended up missing it, so had to wait for the next service....

"Taking back control" - this is the home office that will "deal sympathetically" with EU migrants.
Sounds like pi$$up and brewery, no surprise.

Originally from Serbia, the Home Office claim he fraudulently obtained a British passport by putting his birthdate as 1984, but the Home Office claim they've been told he has a different birthdate in 1985.

As his wife is a Bulgarian national with legal UK residence, he would still have been legally able to enter the UK with her.

I was replying to a post concerning Jamaicans being deported. As Commonwealth citizens originally had free movement and many brought young children, those children would grow up in the UK without the need for documentation.

Yet the Home Office will never have to say where they got that from.

The Bulgarian Embassy should have been contacted.

Johnson and Cummings summoned to testify at an employment tribunal regarding Sonia Khan.

Can we expect Cummings to move to abolish employment tribunals next?
