The EC votes in direct correlation to the citizen's vote so the two are not unrelated.

Looks like it was 7, in the end, that voted 'deviantly'. Only a sub-set of all EC voters can do this, depending on the state they are in. I'll leave it for others more informed about US law to get into details, but I suspect if a substantial number of EC voters actually deviated from their 'pledge', 'steps would be taken'. I don't think it's fair to characterize the system as being somewhat arbitrary.

add to that...
She's got a funny name
.....which (true to form) the infantile Oval Office squatter purposely kept mispronouncing during his press conference.
"KA ma la" became "Kuh MA - luh"
oh, "Dough nald" - you're such a wag

She's a Woman!

Tonight they showed part 2 of an old 2-part documentary on President Ronald Reagan - part of the 'American Experience' series on PBS. Excellent quality; a couple of weeks ago they showed the similar documentary on Bill Clinton. I never supported Reagan, and was glad to see him go, but he was a man of principal and did achieve certain key things (nuclear arms treaties with USSR, principally). It occurred to me, what will the documentary of Trump's presidency be like? I hope I live long enough to see it.

How much attention was paid to ... what's his name ... I'll have to look it up because he was so inconsequential his name never stuck ... oh, right - Tim Kaine (VP pick of Hillary Clinton)? So there is precedent for totally ignoring the pick. On the other hand, no one can forget Sarah Palin, possibly the worst pick ever, who got a lot of attention, or Dan Quayle, who was also 'memorable'. So let's hope Kamala Harris does get a lot of attention, and let's hope it's positive!
