Not a family company as such, that's just the order of succession so to speak. Given the owner's son is only 24 right now, in the interim, the CFO would take charge if necessary. Companies like ours don't get bought and sold, that's not the way our industry works. You're comparing apples and oranges. I get what you are talking about but it just doesn't apply. I've worked in the green industry for 12 of the 14 years I've lived here and I have not seen one single other landscaper get bought out in the way you describe.

It's the nature of my job, I develop relationships with vendors to get my work done, whether I need to act on them in the future or not. The economy's always in a ****ing downturn these days anyway. If it comes to it, I'll labor on a building site if I have to to pay the bills.

Not really. Just playing the long game. I don't like drama and my job is as drama free as I can manage right now. Simples.

Not at the expense of my work/life balance. No sense earning more money if I'm going to stroke out at 55 due to stress, is there? Plus, we have retirement plans anyway, and about 30 years to build up savings. I'm not a big spender as it is, so I'm not worried. Don't forget, there are two incomes in our household, my wife has a very secure job as well and both of us get cost of living/general pay raises on a regular basis. There is no need to knock my pan in when I can keep doing my thing.

You don't live forever- you will die. Does that figure in your world at all? If you are old and have a lot of money you just might get sick and not be able to enjoy it. What then? No fun while young, no relationship with the kids and the wife because you were working all the time, then sick, old age. The big house empty, just cleaning personell coming in making a dying lonely man a coffee.

Fine if you have to work but I can't see the point if you don't have to - I'll leave that to others and just enjoy life.

It seems our post brexit future has moved from the US, Canada, India to Africa where the UK is now playing catch up with the US, China and France..
Its not new money just reallocating the aid budget.
