Yes, apparently. But not that. Just "postponing the summit".
But this is amusing too...

Steve? Is that you?
And I don't think that Gove has the power to do that unilaterally. I believe the EU has some say in the matter.

So, where do they keep coming up with all this money? Especially now that the economy is shrinking.
Research body championed by Dominic Cummings receives at least £800 million in budget

You could buy an awful lot of ads on the sides of buses with that.

An interesting article from an EU friendly media source on the impact of the Coronavirus on the EU, now I can not help but think that the implications of this on a global society have yet to be properly considered, not the medical aspects, that seems relatively minor but the political/economic side of things.

“The coronavirus crisis is a test of the EU’s cohesiveness and credibility — one that can only be passed through genuine, concrete solidarity,” wrote Maurizio Massari, the Italian ambassador to the EU, in an
op-ed for POLITICO pleading for aid ranging from economic relief to face masks.

It's probably an investment in mass propaganda. You know, Cambridge Analytica or other purveyors of subliminally effective "product marketing" or "mass persuasion". It's Cummings' "thing" after all. And they're gonna need it.

Clearly, it's a challenge for the whole world. Nobody will come out of this "unscathed".
But yes, the EU will be seen as having to accept all of the responsibility, but unfortunately, all of the authority lies with member states, who will do whatever they decide to do.

I really think the EU sets themselves up however, another Graun story, I had read the NYT article about Black Sites in Greece, but it is behind a pay wall so would not post it.
The Greek government has been warned by the EU executive that it must uphold the right to asylum, as leaders from Brussels travel to Athens for talks on the migrant crisis at the EU’s borders.
Ylva Johansson, EU commissioner for home affairs, said she wanted to discuss a detention centre where asylum seekers were reported to have been captured and beaten, before being expelled from Greece without the chance to speak to a lawyer or claim asylum.
The New York Times reported on Tuesday of “a black site” in north eastern Greece where migrants are held without legal recourse before being expelled to Turkey.

The article sort of acknowledges that the Greek's have been hung out to dry, unless I have missed it I am pretty sure Ylva does not have any support from Sweden to share the burden, so we end up with its your problem, we are not going to actually help but if you do anything we will condemn your actions.

We agree!

The EU is not a governement, it is a supranational body attempting to promote common standards and equality across the member states - but being crippled by the self-interest of some members. It seems truly odd that those no longer riding the bike seem determined to see it crash.
