Do you really think people voted for Brexit because of the colour of passports or because of bananas??
It is just Tory party rhetoric to show that Brexit is progressing (as it is!)

On this thread just another way of disparaging those who have different opinions to yours and other Remainers who post here.

Happy Christmas EMR.

Yes, that and lots of other reasons which have little or absolutely nothing to do with the EU. But hey, somebody's gotta be to blame, right?

The more you post the less I think you were actually in the UK during the brexit campaign.
Season greeting to you and yours.

I meant people in general--- there will always be a few who vote for any reason. What about all those who didn't bother to vote at all?

I read the speeches of the official leave campaigners, I made up my own mind how to vote---are you saying only your opinions are valid.

Indeed, what about them! Oliver Healy had a point -

Brexit campaigner admits he set up second EU referendum petition signed by three million people | The Independent

Edited to add: The relevance is the voting criteria in his petition.

(My machine is driving me mad, forcing me to keep reposting as it keeps saying "connection has been reset". I blame Brexit!

You are one of the minority of brexiters who read speeches rather than forming their opinions from the popular press and decades of misinformation .
Did you believe the NHS lie.
Did you believe that the ECJ controlled every aspect of UK law.
That UK laws were made in Brussels
Did you believe that leaving would reduce immigration ALL immigration.
Did you believe that the UK was ruled from Paris or Brussels.
I could keep posting multiple reasons that those who voted to leave have voiced in discussions pre and post the vote.
The majority of which had were not accurate or will change after we leave.
But we are leaving and Brexiters will have to live with their decision but they will no longer have the EU to blame.

Oh they will EMR, they'll spend the next 40 years blaming (EU) legacy issues.

But we will have taken back control, wasn't that what all this is about.
But as the saying goes, you can take the UK out of the EU but not the EU out of the UK.

One of the classics which provides a perfect example (& more serious than bendy bananas) was the EU Bass fishing regulations which caused fury among the UK fishing community, fuelled by howls of outrage in the tabloid press but which were introduced by the Commission at the behest of the UK Government - in the words of George Eustice (DEFRA Minister & Brexiteer) "after constant lobbying"

From the Govt. site -

New restrictions on the fishing of sea bass, including the introduction of a minimum catch size, will come into effect from as early as 1 September. This is following action by UK government to protect this iconic and threatened species, Fisheries Minister George Eustice announced today.

To be able to live and work in any of 27 countries is an advantage being given up- especially for the young or the retired. The UK is giving up advantages to the economy of being part of the EU market. I am still waiting for someone to tell me what horribly detrimental ECJ decisions justify Brexit. And to add insult to injury, the UK has to pay some amount to leave the EU.

Seems we won't be that distinctive anyway. We'll have to share the colour with a load of foreigners.
