I worry more about the loaded answers.

For example, I don't think the relationship between work and the wages it pays is quite as simple as it's being in direct proportion to the size of the available pool of workers.

Nor do I think think it anywhere near the top of the list that people who aren't working are doing so because they're bone idle.

But I did have a very strong hunch that the moment Brexit was in the bag, welfare would be the next target ;)

Possibly. It may be that they just don't want to work.

Your hunch is correct.

Oh, I've spent time there but it was full of inebriated, fat-arsed horribly sunburned people at beach bars in tacky union jack speedos

Today I learned that the Balearic Islands are composed entirely of tourist hotspots. Entirely.

That's fine.

But if people don't want to work, I reserve the right to opine that I don't want to pay them.

Some find that a tricky concept to grasp.

Is Magaluf where you live?

Oh, I remember, inebriated, fat-arsed horribly sunburned people at beach bars in tacky union jack speedos, moaning that the foreign help are too lazy to learn or speak proper English (amongst other things).

Maybe it isn’t only British who are ‘inebriated, fat-arsed horribly sunburned people at beach bars’.

Sangria in buckets, beer by the liter and bratwurst on every corner. Mallorca's main beach is a boozy colony of German budget tourists. But plans are afoot to turn it into a luxury resort for rich visitors from China and Dubai. Alarm bells are ringing in Germany.

They call it the "Ballermann"

The Ballermann is to Germans what the Spanish mainland resort of Benidorm is to the British, only more so, because it's so exclusively Teutonic.

But you never see this, do you? After all, you only live there.

So how about giving it a rest with your anti-British comments?

Hey Mancha
You never told us what will happen to the 19 companies who can't employ more employees because you sent all immigrants back home ? see post 18073

What particular skills do those 19 companies need that can only be fulfilled by migrant labour?

I think if you want an answer to your question you need to be a bit more expansive with the details.

You get all that from TripAdvisor?

Nobody lives in Magaluf. It's a purpose-built 3star-ish British resort. Open May to October. Otherwise, boarded up ghost town. It's the only solely British "resort", aside from a couple of the usual British all inclusive places.

Oh, speaking of that, I heard on the radio today that Mallorca has banned British all-in for 2018, so maybe those resorts will switch back to self-catering to attract a more sophisticated clientele.

Anyway, here's Magaluf and the pride of 'er maj. Luckily, it's contained to those 2 square kilometers...
