Default Advertisers force Facebook and Twitter to Address Hate and Racist Propaganda

If you're not the customer, you are the product. These roles shape shift on social media.

Facebook/Twitter users threatened to boycott ADVERTISERS (not boycott the platforms but rather those who advertise there) and the advertisers pulled out their money. Now that the money is gone, despite years of giving hate groups a platform on their platforms, Facebook and Twitter might finally do the right thing.

Put on your seat belts BE, they'll be here crawling out from under their rocks even more than usual.

It's pretty cool how they did it . . .

Apparently you can take a screen shot of a racist post (like the one linked below) with a banner ad of, oh say Microsoft or Chevrolet for example, right there alongside of said racist post, and then post that screenshot back onto the advertiser's own social media page.

I saw this last night in the news. Money talks with these companies, if they see a sufficient drop in ad revenue maybe they will act.

It's a great idea. Just screen shot a racist post with misinformation and doctored videos (like the one linked below) and depending on whichever banner ad is beside the white supremacists propaganda link .... forward it on to that paying advertiser.

Well if it's a tactic that can make Facebook take notice, it must be effective.

400 some odd companies now taking part in the advertising boycott.

FB will be meeting with the organizers and have got Zuckerberg to the table.

Maybe FB will actually do something now about all the hate.

If there's one thing about hate and racist propaganda, it has a clear definition and we all 100% agree on what constitutes hate and racist propaganda. Also, Facebook should be in the fact-checking business and can be relied upon to be the ultimate arbiter of what is in fact true. Both goals should be easy. I'm sure this will go well!

Really?? All too often, free speech that some (especially extreme left leaning) people hate to hear or disagree with is labelled hate speech, and "racist propaganda" is not "racist propaganda" if it is about whites. And further: These days people (and some here on BE too) even have problems working out what racism actually is!
