Your best train jouney in Spain.
The best journey (in my life - even better than passing through the Cumbrian mountains travelling to Scotland) was mid-winter between Madrid and Avila. It had snowed prior to the journey in the mountains, but the clouds had started to clear, allowing fog pockets to form at the base of the mountains. The combination of green trees, snow, land, fog and blue sky was truly amazing. You won't see views like that with the new AVE (the one from Madrid to Valladolid goes under the mountain).

Bet my hubby would enjoy that trip, yes wonderful counryside there. If ther are some in Spain it would be interesting to know
