Think the Kidderminster v Stevenage FA Vase, Carlsberg trophy or whatever it's now called final had 55,000, the same as the entire population of Kidderminster. and I can assure you that there will be many a poor ticket tout this May, hope the evil scum ticket touts end up in the gutter this year, they are gonna be crying their eyes out tonight ha ha ha haa hhaa ha ha haahahhaahahhhahahahhah |

How can you assure me it won't? any of the teams left in the comp would very easily be able to sell 50% of the capacity each for an FA final, As the clubs only get 50% between them why would it not sell out?
I can assure you it wont, The Clubs involved will easily sell their allocations, but the corporate debenture holders won't turn up so there will be the eyesore of empty seats. This happened at the Play off final last year between Derby & West Brom. Ordinary fans would have snapped up the tickets but Wembley wouldn't put them on sale for segregation reasons. |

The play off final isn't the FA Cup final though.
Lets predict West brom V Middlesborough, what a bore fest that will be, good luck to Pompey and to have a semi there aswell is just plane stupid |

No but its bigger than the FA Vase, Carlsberg Final and Kidderminster thing you was on about, probably IMO bigger and more respected than the CC Final, however 2 top teams made it count this year, my point is more than valid, Personally I would rather watch this seasons Play off final over who goes through to the FA Cup Final.

Re: the semis - couldn't agree more, though not stupid - greedy! |

I'm struggling with your analogy here - FA Vase 55K, Playoff final 75k, capacity 90k all the 15,000 empty seats at the play offs were, as you say, corporate - This is THE premier domestic sporting event in the UK.

Re: the semis - couldn't agree more, though not stupid - greedy! As for the FA Final, my opinion is many wont turn up, if I was completley honest and I had been offered a final ticket say in Jan of this year, and I accepted it, I would very much doubt I would make the trip now, and id be even more gutted I wouldnt be able to sell it, we will see what happens At the end of this season the Premiere Sporting event in the UK could be played out by Cardiff and Bristol Rovers, For me that would make the Play off final a more attractive option for 2008 |

Re: Yeah Chelsea are out as well
Well, I'm not too sure about the ins and outs of whether Wembley will be full to capacity for the Final - but I stand by my earlier comment that it's good to see other teams besides "the Big 4" making it to the Final.
Yes, I'm a Liverpool fan - and of course I'd prefer to see them in the Final. The fact is, they didn't play well enough, and were beaten by the better side on the day. Surely that's the beauty and the excitement of this particular Cup? It gives so many teams that nigh on impossible chance to fulfil their dream. Otherwise, we might just as well say that only clubs in the Premiership can enter the competition!! British society in general loves the underdog, and the Cupsets and banana skins of the FA Cup competition help to make it what it is. Regardless of who gets into the Final this year, I'm sure none of those teams' fans will consider that the Final is a non-event. Their teams have earnt the right to play at Wembley and to enjoy their day, just as much as the "big teams". Let's face it, Finals between the "big teams" usual end up being quite a dull affair, and a real anti-climax; and are often more like a cagey Premiership game (apart from 2006, of course ;) ) I agree absolutely that greed is taking over football (particularly at the highest level) and I wonder if there's anything that can be done by the "average" fan to stop the rot setting in any deeper? Sadly, I doubt it. I'd be more than happy to see Barnsley, Pompey or Bristol Rovers in the Final. However, I'm sure that the fans of Cardiff, Boro and WBA would beg to differ! |
