Wot no comments?
2 things which I thought would appear on this, forum but have not appeared yet:
The chancellor contemplating the idea of removing ex pat tax allowances in Uk
Jail sentences for UK residents for those not declaring money offshore.
In Spain:
New rules on IHT, slightly higher state allowance
Grades of It
Minimum IHT 4 -11 Per cent, apparently to combat the vast differences in regional allowances
See Costa Blanca News this week, southern edn
Thought there might have been a few comments!

The rest looks similar to Spain's Modelo 720

People are going round making statements about things they have read, written by someone who has heard something or alternatively have heard a discussion on a BBC R4 programme.
This is all hearsay, third party gossip.
All it does is wind people up, gets people worrying without being able to see the actual written legislation and forming a proper opinion.
And from your post I infer that the UK will be introducing a special taxation for Spain
does that mean the UK has at long last left the EU ?? There can be no "special charges" inside the EU

I imagine all of us read expat press, look at local news, forums etc., so are we to assume that it is all lies or supposition?
Very few are going to go through political papers.
It is not scaremongering to report what we have sen in the media, and then to discuss it- that is what forums are for.

The British Chancellor of the Exchequer has stated to the Times, Telegraph, and BBC amongst others -
“It is totally unacceptable for people not to pay the tax that is due, and the message will be clear now with this new criminal offence that if you’re evading tax offshore, there is no safe haven and we will find you,” .
A clearer basis for discussion I can't imagine.
385 comments already in the Telegraph.
You'll get bitten on the bum if you try to discuss it here.

But what is there to discuss here - at this moment ??
There is no definite statement, no figures, only a "suggestion" that certain things may happen.

all i have said is it is unacceptable to discuss the wrapping when you don't know what is in the box.
and what exactly can 385 in the Telegraph discuss but hot air
It is a sobering thought that although we have number of posts to threads they are by only a small number of people but even what some consider a mundane subject can attract several thousand viewers who don't actually partake of the discussion but extract information from it.

Re: Wot no comments?
The vast majority of government policies are revealed as discussion documents first.
The idea of removing the CGT and some IHT allowances from those who claim UK residence but do not live here is not New News.
My OH until very recently worked in the compliance department for HSBC and this has been on the tax agenda for some time.

I am always at the forefront for civil liberties and the right for everyone to say and what they do (within the law)
But what is there to discuss here - at this moment ??

no, you won't and you know it.

Re: Wot no comments?
All this talk about evading taxes and using safe havens really is old news isn't it
I remember some years ago the government talking about rooting them all out. I think it's a good thing that the government is doing. We all have to pay our fair share of taxes and I don't have a problem with that.
