Many of them Guilty of Drug Offences, but an assortment of other serious crimes involved also.

I posted it because I found it quite surprising and would have thought that women from any one of quite a few other countries would top the list as regards serious crimes, but there again that's based mainly on my own experience.

Maybe that's down to the fact that I've learnt to try and avoid dodgy dames like the plague and hang out only with the nice ones.

An interesting article. But one has to wonder at the article's reporting, where it seems that the journalist seeks to excuse violent female offenders. Women only commit (violent) crimes as a result of sexual abuse, according to the lawyer for female prisoners interviewed for the piece, while "men and drugs" are at fault, according to a former prison director. Neither bothers to elaborate on why men commit such crimes, as it is understood that much darker motivations must necessarily be at work...

I never said that but this on-line newspaper does seem to sensationalise the news. It only reports items it can sensationalise. The DM is good at that too.

You've misinterpreted the article. Spain has the highest rate of women behind bars, but it's unlikely that's down to Spanish women...
