I always thought that it was a Brit thing but have found that the temperature is one of the first things that everyone I know speaks about. Whether it is hot or cold, windy or stormy they always mention it straight after the obligatory hello and how are you.

I do not know how "normal" you are but discussing the weather briefly is normal.

So do you live near Malaga? It would be good to have a contact not far from Antequera area as we start our new life.

Antequera is a fair drive from here, I'm guessing about 60km. I have passed it a few times and one Sunday went to see the Dolmen. Fantastic especially the view from one of them. You need to go to see why, but they have funny opening times. We arrived 30 mins before closing 4pm, however it is free at least on Sunday. I think there are quite a few expats around Coin, Alhaurin el Grande etc. Weekends here now July/Aug are a bit of a nightmare for parking in the town and on the front.
In Antequera you will find out what hot means. Forecasts today 36C tomorrow 37C
Certainly any info you might need pm me.
Good Luck

I haven't seen the Torcal, when it cools down I'll give it a try.
The thing with the Dolmen was the view and what it would have meant to those people of 4000+ years ago.

Yesterday was our hottest day this year, we got 39.6C yesterday 17:30, I didn't look at the humidity but it must have been low. Night temp was under 27C.

El Torcal is best visited in February, with just a dusting of snow around. Truly beautiful.

If possible you should avoid visiting El Torcal during the hot summer months. If you have no other choice but to come during the warmest period of the year you should bring at least a couple of bottles of water, or get there early in the morning.

The best time to visit el Torcal really is spring and/or autumn. During the winter months it can be cold and foggy here.
