Default Winds on the south coast

The costa Del Sol. ‘windy coast’ or Costa de Viento.

Is this a winter wind?
Does that apply to just that area?
Or the whole of the south coast?

Are there any areas that's not affected by the winds?

Or is more sheltered?

Thanks,
J

Not sure I know the answer to this. I live a little inland of the costa del sol. Occasionally it gets very windy, but thats usually in the autumn or the winter and its not everyday, altho sometimes it can be very still and suddenly they'll be a massive gust and some wind for about half an hour and then stops - dead!. In the summer, there maybe a breeze, usually in the afternoon, which is welcomed in the intense heat.

I think Spain tends to be a bit windy in general cos of the heat and the mountains??? But I wouldnt say its any worse than the UK - well not as the UK has been recently

you can take the brits out of britain, but...... you know the rest

And I'll risk getting hammered for generalising about "the spanish" here, but in my experience, they're just as likely to talk about the weather as we brits are.

We can always tell a strong wind from a minor one by how many chairs are in the pool, if the skimmer tops are further than down the nearest flight of steps and if the satellite pixellates more than once a minute ........... It was dire a couple of days ago! and it amazes me how suddenly the wind can stop, like someone said earlier.

The day I ski in the rain or swim in the snow, that'll be the day I complain about the weather, until then lovin it.
