Re: Will we miss him too much

Have been thinking about it for ages, went in April then thought twice as husband opened another shop so he was stressed out, but over the summer hols have thought why not? Hubby spoke to his brother tonight and told him we were going and he thought it was the most ridiculous thing he'd heard of and we were being irresponsible cos of the kids. All gone quiet since then as perhaps he is right and we are competely barking!!!

I worry about if it's right for the kids, would we be stuffing up their furture, but taking them somewhere where it's more family orientated, they've a much better chance of getting an outdoor life, the education system out there will mean that they will be at the very least bi-lingual and able to then go to university in the UK, States, or anywhere in Europe. How can that be anything but good for your children???????

You are so right busters mum, he's 38 not married has no children and was telling hubby that we were messing up the kids lives!! when he was asking what my son was going to do for a job (he's only 14) hubby should of said matador!!! that would of shut him up!!

Pay no attention to him, it's your decision what you do, will he be left on his own ?

No he's not even that close thats the funny thing he always remembers birthday cards for the kids but thats about it, that was one of the reasons for moving away as really our kids have no-one around them apart from us. my dad died 10 yrs ago very young and since then my family has split and my husbands family are step, so they have never been close, sad really, our friends in Javea are morelike family to us.

I think maybe you have just answered your own question !
Some people just don't want to see others realise their dreams and just because he is a miserable git he is probably happy making others miserable.
As for your son by the time he leaves school he will be fluent english/spanish so the world is his oyster, at least he won't be stacking shelves or flipping burgers, you go for it girl !!!

I think I'm overanalysing it, we have never done anything so adventurous before, but we would rent the house out so we could always come back, one change though is the school fees, cos mine are at Grammar school here so obviously we don't pay!

We have been here 4 years, I agree it does eat into your budget when you're paying for school fees. Mine went to the European school of Alicante and the fees were just over €5200 for the two, not bad compared to some. the secondary section of the school has a good reputation but I wasnt overly impressed with the primary section although the teachers are now leaving. The school was another reason we wanted to leave but it seems to be sorting itself out. Lots of children from Javea catch the school bus to this school, if you are interested you can find it on the internet.

Hi all am now back from visit to Spain and finally have computer fixed, have just been catching up on what you have all been saying, we too are moving La Llacuna, we have just come back from sorting out bank accounts and mortgage etc, we do seem have an influx of Kentish folk on here, would be great to find a place to meet up and have a drink and a chat, as Silverchick said we have met up and as we will be in the same neighbourhood it was brill for us and our little girl. Also I will be on my own with kids whilst hubby continues to work in UK until business in Spain takes off:)

How funny that we are all leaving, where in Kent are you? I had a space on my access to nursing course then decided now or never!!!. I'm out on 5th Sept, just finalysing rental properties, do I go for apartment, but has no outside space only balcony and roof terrace, (although it does have a pool) or villa with pool and small garden? Want to keep costs down as we are selling our property here and paying for school fees!. Where are you moving to?.

Hi, i live near Rochester airport, we have found property in spain in La Llacuna and are putting down a holding deposit next week, we hope to be all done and dusted by November, wanted it to be earlier but hey life sucks some times;) i have to say that i would get a villa with a pool, but i've not looked into rentals so i dont know what the difference in price would be, someone on here will know for sure. What's made you decide to move to spain? just out of interest, sorry if you think i'm nosey:thumbup:

We decided that as our eldest is 14 and due to start GCSE's it's now or in 2 to 4 yrs time when he has done his A-levels, also No2 son is due to start grammar school as well. We have friends who live in Javea and have been here for 2 yrs, they had their 3rd (surprise) baby out there!. We just want our kids to grow up in a safer place, and be outside more. We are not far from Rochester, my husband owns a shops in Chatham and Maidstone, I'm signing off now as going to Whitstable for fish and chips with the kids by the sea now that summer is finally here!!

villa with a pool, for sure, especially with all your children !Free entertainment for them, easier life for you!
Also, going by what has been posted on here over the past few days, if you get an apartment in a town, it could be noisy at nights, difficult when trying to get children asleep.

My only concern is that my husband will stay in UK to run our business and come out weekly or every 10 days. I don't know how this will work out!

Does any-one have experience of husbands commuting between Spain and England.
